Testimonials

Before I say anything about Tim as a teacher, I must first acknowledge that he is a dear and highly valued friend. His impeccable character - kind nature, loyalty and generosity - are a constant gift, and have shaped me as a person.
Even if this were not true, I can say without reservation that Tim is an excellent martial artist, possessing an insightful mind, a passion for learning and a strong work ethic. More importantly, he is a generous, patient, and enthusiastic teacher. Add to that his general character, and it is clear that anyone would be well served to learn from him.
I had the honor and pleasure to train with Tim nearly every day for almost four years. We earned our first instructorships together. I know without doubt that any skill I have in martial art is a direct result of Tim's help and patience as a training partner. His skill level, mind set, grasp of concepts, inquisitiveness and generosity during training continue to prove invaluable.
I can not recommend training with Tim highly enough. Whatever your goals or attributes, I know that Tim will help you fulfill your potential - and you'll have fun doing it!

I had the pleasure of working with Tim as a Feldenkrais® Practitioner and discovered not only a fast learner, but a highly intelligent, thoughtful and funny individual. As a martial arts teacher myself, I was could see that Tim had a good understanding of different arts that included striking, joint locks and throwing. When I worked through movements with Tim he would pick them up very quickly and eagerly, understanding immediately their value.
I think I was most impressed with Tim’s thoughtfulness regarding not just the martial aspect of martial arts, but the arts aspect. Perhaps it is because I view martial arts as something as a tool for learning about life and in some ways a metaphor for life. Which metaphor you choose—whether consciously or unconsciously—will largely determine not only your experience in martial arts, but moreover, your experience in life. Tim’s view does not preclude this, what I call, the art of living that martial arts has the potential to inform. His delight in training and learning, his openness to new ideas and his deep respect for his teachers greatly impressed me. It is evident that his vibrancy, rigor and openness in martial arts and in Feldenkrais® extend into his every day life, which is also filled with exploration and expansion rather than contraction in to habit.
